Donegal dethroned Kerry of the Allianz Football League title in emphatic fashion this afternoon at Croke Park where it finished 3-20 to 2-10 in favour of the Ulster champions.
After Keith Evans’s goal had put the All-Ireland champions up by 1-1 to 0-3 a dozen minutes in, Jim McGuinness’s side dominated with two-pointers from Michael Lanagan ad Michael Murphy (free) sailing over.
More scores from Max Campbell and Ryan McHugh (2) had the Tir Chonaill men up by seven and they’d send over three more unanswered points via Peader Mogan, Conor O’Donnell and Max Campbell before Sean O'Shea broke a 22-minute scoring drought for the holders.
Trailing by 0-13 to 1-2 at the interval, Jack O’Connor’s side responded by hitting the first two points of the restart through Dylan Geaney and Evans but what followed afterwards killed off any chance of a Kerry comeback.

O’Donnell broke through for Donegal’s first goal in the 42nd minute and the floodgates opened from there as Murphy and Caolan McGonagle each found the net in the space of two minutes.
Donegal sent over the next five scores, including another Murphy free from beyond the arc, for good measure as the scoreboard incredibly read 3-19 to 1-4 with 57 minutes on the clock.
Substitute Paul Geaney registered a two-pointer for Kerry and, following points from Tom O’Sullivan and Tomás Kennedy, David Clifford would grab a consolation goal after Finbarr Roarty handed rounded off the Ulster champions’ impressive tally in the 65th minute.
The emphatic victory marks the Tir Chonaill County’s second every title success in the top tier of the National Football League, with their first coming in 2007 when they defeated Mayo by three points at Croke Park.
