Clare manager Brian Lohan said a quick return to Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League was crucial for his side after the disappointment of relegation last year.

The Banner men saw off Wexford by 0-26 to 1-20 on Saturday in Ennis to make it six wins from six in Division 1B, sealing promotion and a place in the league final.

Speaking to RTE's Sunday Sport after the game, Lohan said it was vital that his team make an immediate return to the topflight division.

"It was massive. And it was important that it was done straight away. That we're not hanging around there (in 1B) and letting standards drop," said the 2024 All-Ireland winning boss.

"Our players have been very professional in how they've dealt with it. Had to go to Antrim, had to go to Kildare, had to go to Carlow. You'd be expecting us to win those matches but at the same time, you have to go and do it.

"Our aim was to win all the matches and that's what we've done and we'll move on now."
