Cork captain Ian Maguire has had his proposed two-match ban reduced to one game following last night’s appeal to the Central Hearings Committee (CHC).
The midfielder was red-carded by referee Conor Dourneen during the second-half of the Rebels’ victory over Meath in the Allianz Football League last Sunday after an altercation with opponent Adam O’Neill.
After bringing his case before the CHC, the decision to reduce Maguire’s suspension to one match was based on evidence produced.
It means that the St Finbarr’s clubman will still miss this Sunday’s crunch Division 2 top of the table clash against Derry at Celtic Park (1pm), but will be available for manager John Cleary when the Leesiders host Kildare in Round 6 on March 14th.
