Limerick saw off 14-man Tipperary in impressive fashion in Thurles this evening to record their second win in Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League.

The 0-36 to 0-21 result at FBD Semple Stadium marks back-to-back defeats for the All-Ireland champions who were defeated by Cork last time out having recorded wins in their first two outings.

Limerick hit the ground running in this one, with Aidan O’Connor in exceptional form for them from the start as they registered the first seven points unaswered before Darragh McCarthy sent over Tipp’s first point from a free in the 11th minute.

Another barrage of points from the Treaty men saw them 0-14 to 0-4 up by the 22nd minute and they’d increase their lead to 14 points before the hosts won a penalty on the eve of half-time which McCarthy sent wide.

Things got worse for Liam Cahill’s men after the change of ends as midfielder Willie Connors was red carded by referee Colm Lyons for apparent slap on his opponent’s helmet off the ball.

Tipp hit five of the next seven points but back-to-back points from Peter Casey would make it double scores and, from there, the white flags of O’Connor, Mike Casey, Donnacha O Dalaigh, Tom Morrissey and Shane O’Brien helped to round off an impressive winning tally for John Kiely’s side.
