Roscommon’s goals proved vital as they picked up their second win in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League at Armagh’s expense this afternoon.

It finished 3-18 to 0-24 at King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park, where Diarmuid Murtagh, Enda Smith and substitute Paul Carey supplied the majors for the home side on the route to what was an impressive victory.

Murtagh and Smith bagged their goals inside the opening three minutes to rock Kieran McGeeney’s side, with two-pointers from Murtagh (2) and Daire Cregg to follow as the Rossies moved towards a commanding 2-14 to 0-8 lead at half-time.

Smith extended the hosts lead in the opening minutes of the second-half before the Orchard men hit back with four unaswered scores which included a pair of two-pointers from Oisin O’Neill.

A brace of Ross McQuillan points left it at 2-17 to 0-17 with 62 minutes on the clock in Roscommon Town, with Cregg and Greg McCabe trading points before Carey’s strike put Mark Dowd’s men back up by nine and they’d see it out from there despite Armagh shooting the last four scores.
