Longford edged out Waterford by 2-18 to 3-14 in Dungarvan this afternoon to secure their first points in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League.
Daniel Reynolds’s brilliantly taken goal at the death proved the difference for the Midlanders as they bounced back from their home defeat to London last weekend.
Aaron Ryan’s goal had given Waterford a 1-2 to 0-4 lead in the 19th minute of this re-fixed encounter, but it’d be erased three minutes later by Dylan Farrell’s goal as Mike Solan’s charges moved towards a 1-8 to 1-7 half-time lead.
The home side goaled again early in the restart ahead of Farrell, Reynolds, Peter Lynn and Cian Brady all sending over scores that helped tp keep Longford in front.
The visitors looked to be in bother though when they conceded a third goal late on, but there’d still be time for Reynolds to fire in the winner to get his team up and running in their league campaign.
