The funeral details for Eugene ‘Nudie’ Hughes have been announced.

Widely regarded as one Monaghan’s greatest ever footballers, the Castleblayney Faughs clubman passed away yesterday after a seven-year battle with cancer. He was aged 67.

The three-time All-Star will repose at Massey Brothers Funeral Home, Main Street, Finglas, on Tuesday from 11am to 1pm and at Ward's Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Castleblayney on Wednesday from 5pm until 8pm.

His funeral cortège will leave his former family home in York Street and travel on foot to the church from 10.30am on Thursday morning. It will be followed by funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, Castleblayney at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
