Jack Sheridan celebrates after scoring Kildare's goal during the NHL Division 2 clash against Meath at Lomans Park Trim.

Kildare secured their place in the Allianz Hurling League Division 2 final thanks to a comprehensive 1-24 to 1-14 win over Meath in Trim this afternoon.

Brian Dowling’s men had built up a 0-18 to 0-13 lead by the time talisman Jack Sheridan lashed in their goal in the 52nd minute and the points of Rian Boran, Paul Dolan and James Burke afterwards put their advantage into double figures.

Meath got a goal back through Jack Regan in the 61st minute, but the Lilywhites cruised to a 10-point win nonetheless to ensure they join Down in Division 1B next season.

Meanwhile, Derry secured their status in Division 2 by leaping Donegal in the table with an emphatic 2-23 to 0-9 over their neighbours in Letterkenny.

Shea Cassidy and Thomas Brady supplied the goals as the Oak Leafers recorded their third win and sent their Tir Chonaill counterparts down in the process.

Kerry also got their third win of the competition by handing a 1-19 to 1-13 defeat to already relegated Tyrone in Garvaghey.
