"If we don't win we go down, it's as simple as that" - Morgan

Tyrone goalkeeper Niall Morgan says nothing else but a win will do for the Red Hands against Dublin Omagh on Sunday as they look to avoid the drop to Division 2.

Tyrone and Armagh both sit on five points heading into this weekend’s final round of games in the Allianz Football League, with Malachy O’Rourke’s side leading the way on score difference against the All-Ireland champions who face already relegated Derry in their last game of this year’s competition.

Speaking this week at the launch of John West Féile 2025 in Croke Park, Morgan says the picture is as clear as crystal this weekend for him and his team mates ahead of the clash with the Dubs at Healy Park.

“If we don't win we go down, it's as simple as that,” he is quoted saying by GAA.ie.

“I've said before that we want to play Division 1 football, it's probably been the only thing that sort of saved our last couple of seasons where we've been really poor, we could still turn around and say we secured Division 1 status.

“It's not the be all and end all because we've seen what Armagh and Dublin have done in previous years but you still want to play at the top division and you still want to be in Division 1.

“It’s not the case that this is a throwaway game and we’re not worried about going down, we want to stay up. You don’t want to go down by any means but we’d just be unfortunate that if we did win coming off the back of two wins and a draw and still possibly go down, depending on other results.”
