Pat Spillane admits to nearly falling asleep during the recent Kerry v Derry All-Ireland SFC quarter-final.
The first half was an especially hard watch, so much so that the Kerry great has compared it to the iconic Over 75s five-a-side soccer match between the priests from Craggy Island and Rugged Island on Fr Ted!
“Hand on heart, the first half of Kerry v Derry was the most boring and dullest game of Gaelic football I have ever witnessed," he wrote in the Sunday World.
"At one stage, I began to think the cure for insomnia was unfolding before my eyes. The first half would have put anyone to sleep. And I mean anyone.
"It was sleep-walking football with not a glove being laid on anybody. The infamous Fr Ted over-75 soccer match had more movement and tempo."
