Doyle hoping to finally crack Crokes

Naas captain Eoin Doyle is hoping it will be a case of third time lucky against Kilmacud Crokes in Saturday’s Leinster Club SFC final at Croke Park.

Crokes have ended the Kildare three-in-a-row champions’ provincial dreams in the last two years, in the 2021 final which was actually played in January 2022, and at the semi-final stage last year.

"They’re a phenomenal side. Never mind good players, they’re All-Stars,” he told RTÉ at this week’s launch of the Leinster Club finals in Croke Park.

"The first year we played them in a Leinster final here, we would have felt we had a decent enough first half, but we petered off in the second.

"Last year, it just felt like we got hit with sucker punch goals at different times, that always kept us at arm’s length.

"So we never got a chance to test them and put them to the pin of their collar. The experienced they are and as well coached as they are, they always just kept you at arm’s length."
