Late Tyrone hurling star Damian Casey was honoured as Hurler of the Year at the 2022 Irish News Ulster GAA All-Star Awards.
Sean Casey accepted the award on behalf of his son at last night's awards ceremony in Ulster Hall, Belfast, in recognition of Damian's heroic performances in the Tyrone jersey this season as they claimed the Nickey Rackard Cup. Damian was renowned for his remarkable scoring exploits for his club Eoghan Ruadh, Dungannon and Tyrone.
The GAA world was stunned on June 17, when news broke that the Red Hands star forward passed away following a tragic swimming accident in Spain at the age of 29, just four weeks after he helped his county to Nickey Rackard Cup glory at Croke Park.
