Colmcille 2-10
Rathcline 0-11
Colmcille are into the quarter-finals of the Longford senior football championship after making their goals count in last night’s clash with Rathcline.
Barry McKeon and Paul McKeon bagged the goals that he made the difference for the victors in Monaduff, where they led by 1-4 to 0-4 at the half.
Frees from Oran Kenny (2) and Shane Kenny kept Rathcline in contention for the start of the second-half, but Colmcille hit the ground running after the restart with scores from Barry McKeon that saw them five points clear.
An Oran Kenny free pulled it back to four but the game was done and dusted once Paul McKeon got in for his side’s second goal with 10 minutes to go.
Rory Hawkins rounded off Colmcille’s tally with a point in the 56th minute and cement his team place in the last eight.
Meanwhile, this evening’s SFC third round clash between Abbeylara and Dromard in Allen Park has been postponed due to a bereavement in the Abbeylara club.
Carrickedmond versus Longford Slashers goes ahead as scheduled this evening at Leo Casey Park (throw-in 7pm).
