Antrim are up and running in the Tailteann Cup after handing Leitrim a 3-18 to 2-12 defeat in their opening round clash at Corrigan Park this afternoon.

Adam Loughran (2-3) and Ruairi McCann registered the goals for Andy McEntee’s men as they brushed aside their Connacht counterparts in this one.

Despite Barry McNulty’s goal just three minutes in for Leitrim, the hosts dominated large portions of the first-half to take in a 0-10 to 1-5 lead at the half.

Jack Heslin goaled again for Andy Moran’s side early in the restart and James Rooney would point them in front ahead of Antrim finding another gear again and smashing in their three goals in a devastating 11-minute period that was more than enough to claim the points.

In Enniskillen, Wexford came from six points down (1-7 to 0-4) at half-time to earn a 0-13 apiece draw with hosts Fermanagh.

Ben Brosnan’s goal from the rebound of his saved penalty in the 55th minute got the Slaneysiders right back into this one as they trailed by just a point heading down the home stretch.

Wexford would level it prior to Sean Quigley’s point in the sixth minute of injury-time seemingly securing the win for the Ernesiders, but ‘keeper Darragh Brooks snatched a share of the points for the Model men with a coolly struck ‘45’.

In Tullamore, Offaly kept things to script by seeing off London with a 2-14 to 0-11 opening victory.

Nigel Dunne’s 17th minute point had the visitors in a commanding 0-7 to 0-0 lead and Cian Farrell would add a goal after it to send them towards a 1-9 to 0-3 lead at the half.

Farrell bagged the Faithful men’s second goal late in the second-half as they cruised towards the comfortable nine-point win at the Exiles’ expense.
