Well done Galway superb aerial catching and Cooney's striking was magic, Canning's playmaking is super too, great win. Hard luck Wexford, you deserved for it for bringing that mighty crowd with you, county must have been emptied. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4898 - 02/07/2017 17:53:30 2009089 Link 0 |
Again Wexford played a terrible brand of hurling. They'll never win anything with that system. Galway were in snooze mode and walked it. HurlingSnob (Dublin) - Posts: 220 - 02/07/2017 17:58:04 2009092 Link 0 |
very enjoyable contest. Well done to both teams. Great play from Galway. Wexford a very physical team. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2522 - 02/07/2017 19:00:30 2009135 Link 0 |
I don't know why GAA did'nt open up the hill. I did'nt go to match by the way. Well done to all who went. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2522 - 02/07/2017 19:01:27 2009138 Link 1 |
Coldplay concert on Saturday my friend half the stands on the hill already removed, half of the pitch has already been removed since the game finished.

It's no excuse though, given the crowd that was expected. Whatever work they had already done on the Hill in preparation for the concert could have been squeezed in over the coming days if they had a mind to do it. It's not like they had a roof to dismantle or seats to remove.

The GAA are laughing all the way to the bank after the huge attendance. How many were from Wexford? 40,000? HurlingSnob (Dublin) - Posts: 220 - 03/07/2017 05:31:01 2009320 Link 0 |
did the horse win after? we have no complaints in wexford, and well done to galway, the better team by far won.for the poster who said wexford are no better than offaly,i would strongly disagree.for the dublin poster who said wexfords style of hurling is terrible, well show us how it is done v tipp so,try to keep it to 10 point defeat. i thought our support was absolutely outstanding yesterday, fair play every child in the county must have been in croke park. hand on heart,we travelled in optomism and hope rather than confidence.galway are a better team than us at the moment. the year has been an overwhelming success,i know it is not over but we have to target a leinster title in a few years. for me,galway got their scores much easier than us.we need to sort out our free taker, conor mc seems burdened by it.our short passing game v kilkenny was replaced by an old school drive it down on top of galways half back line where galway completely dominated. after the match,i didnt sense too much disappointment,at least we were competitive was the general mood, even though i think we never looked like winning the game. could the penalty have changed things?i still think, there would only have been 1 winner. hope we can regroup for a quarter final, there is more in this team and the future is bright. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 03/07/2017 08:53:34 2009353 Link 0 |
No excuse is right, 60,000 at a match and one end behind the goal completely empty. It looked ridiculous.

No complaints about the result, and well done Galway. Totally deserved the win, what a belter of an atmosphere and great to see Wexford swarm HQ like that! The turning point of the game was the missed penalty. It might have given Wexford a new lease of life as we were on top at the time, but throughout Galway got their scores so much easier whereas we had to work so so hard for them. The biggest crowd ever to pay through the gate for a Leinster final came to Croke Park; 60,032. MTS (Galway) - Posts: 279 - 03/07/2017 10:42:45 2009457 Link 0 |
The biggest crowd was due to the Wexford fans who out numbered Galway by at least 8 to 1 , I was there for the minor game , leave if you like you wont be missed

Great for Galway to reach a semi. All this media talk about being "red hot favorites" is a joke. Galway bet Dublin, Offaly and Wexford. Now that is good. But you have Cork, Clare, Tipp, KK and WF who are all topclass left there. I think Galway will get Waterford or Tipp in the semi which is a huge challenge. The winner of that game will get Cork as they will win Munster and their semi. For me Cork are raging hot favourites. suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1675 - 03/07/2017 12:01:45 2009525 Link 1 |
they had removed a lot of standing structures from the Hill, and there was an amount of gear parked under Hill 16. Plenty enough room for everyone there.

And could they not have done that after the match? If Dublin were playing yesterday, you can bet your life the hill would have been open.

Wexford matched Galway in the first half yet went in trailing by 3 points mainly through the concession of silly frees. The penalty save was crucial in terms of timing/momentum but Galway's slicker forwards & aerial dominance in defence was massive. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 03/07/2017 13:04:56 2009583 Link 0 |
They were not playing though and GAA consider this when always keeping Leinster football final well clear of concerts. There was ample free seats for everyone yesterday Probably a days work in removing those barriers on hill alone so probably removed on Friday or Saturday i would imagine. hurlorhurley (Wexford) - Posts: 1660 - 03/07/2017 13:10:10 2009590 Link 0 |
Cork certainly are not raging hot favourites.I wouldn't be surprised if Clare beat them next Sunday.Galway look like the best hurling team in the country at the moment.However,All-Ireland senior hurling titles have never come easy for Galway and I don't expect this year to be any different.I really hope they do it and I think they will.
