Congrats to Camogie Heroes
First place this week has to go to the wonderful Westmeath Camogie players who dug it out against Galway last Sunday in Croker to win the Intermediate All-Ireland. What an ad they are for hurling in the county. What a great year it has been for hurling in the county. Camogie is very important to Southern Gaels and we encourage all those interested in starting to join our sister club Drumraney GAA. Many girls have started with Southern Gaels with brothers and gone on to Drumraney as they grew older and now are regular starters and we love this association between the two clubs.
Westmeath Stars Present to U14s
Páirc Chiaráin was the venue for some celebration and inspiration last Friday night when Joey Boyle and Cormac Boyle of Raharney and Westmeath travelled south to present our U14s with their league medals. The guys gave a Q&A session to the team and their insights and experience enthralled all in attendance. We are so appreciative of the guys for sharing this with the club and look forward to seeing them again soon at club and county level. Thanks again!
U14s Face into Semi-Final
After the inspiring talk they received last Friday it is hoped that our U14s can put words into action and score a victory over Na Piarsaigh in their semi-final Division 1 Championship clash next Thursday in Páirc Chiaráin at 6.30pm. With a full panel they should be able to give it a good shot so please come and support our lads in this important clash.
SG U17s Line Out Next Sunday
For the first time in a few years, Southern Gaels will field a stand-alone U17 squad in the Radisson U17 Championship. This knock-out clash features the return of some SG players that will be vital for us in the near future and we are delighted to welcome them back. Our senior panel is already on the up for next year. The match takes place next Sunday morning at 11am in Páirc Chiaráin against Cullion so again your support is vital.
Artie Pyke Tournament On Friday
Tournament season is upon us and next Friday sees the first of them. Our U12s will host Roscommon Gaels, Fr. Daltons and Belmont in the Artie Pyke Cup starting from 6.30pm and finishing up around 9pm. This is always a great night and a great celebration of great club man who is sorely missed. He’d love to be down in the thick of it!
SG Features at U13 Trials
Well done to all the U14s who travelled to the U13 trials last weekend. We really are making an impression at county level and no doubt many will be called to play for the county. Gaels Abú!
