Clarke’s Bar Junior Championship:

St. Loman’s Mullingar 3-09 Athlone 2-10

St. Loman’s good run in this year’s Junior Championship continued when they overcame Athlone last Thursday evening, the Saints will now meet The Downs (next Monday) to determine who will take the last remaining JFC quarter-final spot.

Loman’s played some excellent football at different stages throughout this match, epitomised by their excellent first half goal involving 8 different players before Christy Gilbert finished to the roof of the net. However, overall the players and management were disappointed with the team’s performance, as at times the play was sloppy and error ridden. The Saints held a 9-point lead entering the last 10 minutes, and complacency nearly caught them out when Athlone fought back to make it a 2 point game, however Loman’s hung on by the skin of their teeth and they left Tubberclair grounds relieved that they had progressed to the next round. A vast improvement will need to be made if the team are to progress to the quarter finals.

Team; Stephen Gallagher, Senan Russell, Adam Carroll (c), Nigel Graham, Kyle Smith, Oisin Hogan, Rory Sheahan, Kevin Regan, Dan Sheridan, Christy Gilbert (1-1), Conan O’Hara (1-2), Shane Boyce (1-0), James Cox, Garrett Hickey (0-6) & Eoghan O’Keefe. Subs Used; Paddy Lynam, Dano Fitzsimons, Johnny Plunkett & Brian Murphy. Tristan Johnson, Ja Farrell, Andy McKenna, Stevie Sheridan & James Murray.

Under 16 Boys Championship:

St Loman’s Mullingar 1-18 Caulry 2-11

St Loman’s under 16’s hosted Caulry this evening in Lakepoint park for the division 1 Championship semi-final. The blues got off to the worst possible start by conceding a goal and two points without reply. They settled into the game and with ten played in the second half they had turned the bad start on its head, to lead the match by 8 points. The tackling and work rate from the back was excellent and some great scores came as a result. The Saints finished the game ahead by four after a tough battle with heroes all over the field. The lads can now look forward to a final in the coming weeks

A phenomenal result for this group of players and management who reach their fourth county final in a row! Well done lads!!!
