Senior championship

Crookedwood 2-15 St.Brigids 0-17.  A vastly improved performance in Round 2 of the championship secured a precious, hard earned victory over a tough St.Brigids side. Clashes between the two have always been close and this recent encounter was no different. Our opponents had the better of the first half exchanges and led by three at the break. But the lads were determined not to let this one go without a fight and played good, determined hurling in the second half. A fortuitous Shane McGovern goal at the start of the second half turned the game in our favour. We drew us level with 12 minutes to go and a fine team goal finished by Adam Bate, along with two points from play put us five clear in the closing stages. Both sides traded points in the closing minutes, but we held on for a crucial victory to keep our quarter final chances alive. Team; Alan O’Mara, Damien Grifferty, Seamus Savage, John Kiernan, Kevin Orme, Feichín Óg Brennan, Ciarán Bawle, Eddie Nally, Brian McLoughlin (0-1), Conor Savage (0-2), Shane McGovern (1-3), Simon McCarthy, Brendan McCarthy (0-1), Ian McGovern (0-2), Barry O’Mara (0-6). Annabel’s Allstars

We are delighted to have been invited to participate in the Annabel’s Allstars 7-aside blitz in Clonkill GAA on Saturday next.  All fifteen Westmeath hurling clubs are taking part in the 7-a-side adult hurling tournament being held in memory of Annabel Loughlin, the young daughter of former Westmeath hurler Enda Loughlin who died following a tragic accident last November. Dublin champions Ballyboden St Enda's are also taking part while ten-time Kilkenny All-Ireland winner Henry Shefflin and brilliant comedian and impressionist Conor Moore will be in attendance. The family fun event will begin at 10.30am and there will be a host of other activites on the day including a BBQ, ice cream van, face painting, music and a raffle with 2 All-Ireland SHC final tickets and signed Westmeath and Donegal jerseys among the prizes on offer. All proceeds raised will go towards Children's Charities and a fundraising page has been set up online. Our first game is at 10:30, with further games at 12:30 and 2pm.

Condolences

We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Jack Power (RIP), Cullion, who passed away recently.
