Senior Championship:  R4: Castledaly  1-7(10)  C'TownKinnegad  2-8(14)

Castledaly returned to Hogan Park Moate for a second Saturday in search of their second win of this championship season but found themselves second best against a very determined Coralstown Kinnegad team.

In difficult weather conditions scores would be difficult to find and Castledaly suffered a number of missed chances before Kevin Stone and Lorcan Dolan gained their 3 first half points.  Coralstown Kinnegad also struggled to convert several chances but 2 goals from play on 18th and 22nd minutes exploited some poor Castledaly defending and brought us a half time score: Castledaly  0-3(3)  C'TownKinnegad  2-4(10)

Castledaly looked to freshen up their 2nd half efforts with Paul Kelly and Adam Turley on for Cathal and Francis and both contributed to creating scores, with Kevin Stone again accurate with his free kick duty and Lorcan Dolan pointing neatly from play. Kinnegad pressed to extend their lead but were thwarted by goal line saves from Jordan Nugent and interceptions from Dolan  Fitzpatrick and Kelly. Fergal Hynes showed composure to add a fine shot on the run before Lorcan Dolan sparked a revival with a fabulous goal on 46th minute to close gap to 4 points = 1-06 2-07. Both teams missed chances before Liam Fitzpatrick closed the deficit further with a fine brave long range point that brought the Castledaly supporters to life.  Castledaly  threw everything they had at a  resolute Coralstown Kinnegad with their younger players particularly showing growing maturity and determination but they could find no way through, forced into errors and misplaced shots and passes. Two points at the opposite end extinguished the last Castledaly hopes and the final whistle raised cheers from the men in red while the gold and green face a future as challenging and bleak as recent weather.
