Match Reports
ACL Div 3 Final
MAW 4-12 Multyfarnham 4-3
The refixed final went ahead last Monday in Cusack park and served as a useful warm up for the weekends championship action to come. The concession of four goals was a concern but
we scored freely also at the other end.31 lads togged on a balmy summers evening in perfect football conditions and Ruairi Cunningham accepted our first piece of silverware of the year from, fittingly.,our own clubman and long time Westmeath gael Seamus McLoughlin.

Intermediate Championship
MAW 3-8 Caulry 1-9
Our championship campaign had a successful opening on a scorching evening in the well
presented Tubberclair grounds against our neighbours Caulry.A hesitant start to the game
was followed by a dominant period of possession where we eased to a 5 points to 2 lead.
Andrew Gorman was then,a liitle harshly, adjudged to have pulled down his man in the
square leading to Caulry getting back in to the game by a penalty.Caulry eventually turned 3
up 1-5 to 0-5 at half time. The second half was only a couple of minutes old when a well
worked move ended with Ruairi Cunningham slipping the ball to the net.We started to get
on top again after that and then there were two incidents which changed the game.Firstly
Andrew Gorman picked up second yellow card which saw him leave the fray and then
brilliant last ditch defending from Conor Claffey kept our lead intact when a goal looked
certain.Instead John Corbally went up the other end and finished to the net and
momentum was back with Moate. The sending off seemed to galvinise the team and
everyone upped their intensity to compensate and when the excellent Gavin Murray
finished off yet another lung bursting run with a superb finish we were as good as
home.Richie Price was a real authority figure in goal,Sean Bracken gave another masterclass
at corner back,Paul Gorman came out with ball time and time again,Eoghan and Ronan won
the battle around the middle,Conor Sheridan covered every blade of grass and was simply
superb and was ably assisted by brother Paul and David Mullins and up top we carried a
constant threat from Ruairi,Rob Forde and Johnny.Well done to team and management and
we move on next to play Milltownpass on Tuesday the 24 th .
