St Josephs club notes

February 18, 2019

All Ireland Scór na nÓg Final:

Taking part in the Set Dancing All Ireland final for the first time since 2012, St Josephs Set Dancers performed brilliantly in a very high quality competition and while we didn’t get the overall crown, the girls were simply magnificent. A large number of supporters made their way to the TF royal Theatre on Saturday for the All Ireland Finals and with seats just four rows from the front of the stage, the St Josephs crowd made sure we were heard when the Girls were on stage. Facing opposition from Glenullin(Derry),Spa(Kerry) and Abbeyknockmoy(Galway) we did have the honour of being the final group on stage and finished off the event in great style. The results were a long wait and we knew that certainly St Josephs were in the mix and while it was disappointing not to be declared All Ireland Champions, we were very proud of the team and their run to the very pinnacle of the competition. Abbeyknockmoy from Galway were the winners and we congratulate them on their achievement. This marks the conclusion of Scór na nÓg for 2019 and it has been a great year for the club. Well done to the team of Katie Kelly, Ciara Daly, Kayla McDonnell, Zara Montgomery, Caoilinn Elliffe, Sarah Conlon, Joyce Conway and Sarah McCormack. A huge deal of Thanks must go to Thomas Pettit for his great work not just this year but over the past few years with the Set Dancers. Ten years ago, we never competed in the event. Now we are up there with the very best.
