Waterford native James O'Connor is to succeed Henry Shefflin as Ballyhale Shamrocks manager.

O'Connor led Cork's Fr O'Neill's to an All-Ireland club IHC final against Tullaroan last month, while he previously delivered a Cork SHC title to Carrigtwohill in 2011.

The Irish Examiner is reporting that O'Connor will take over the Ballyhale reins from Kilkenny legend Shefflin who stepped down after guiding the Shamrocks to back-to-back All-Ireland club SHC titles at Borris-Ileigh's expense last month.
