Cork county board chairperson Tracey Kennedy says there have been “significant improvements achieved” since intensive work commenced on Páirc Uí Chaoimh’s pitch surface.

There have been concerns over the surface since the stadium re-opened in 2017 but Kennedy says she’s confident over its condition ahead of this Sunday's Munster SHC round-robin clash against Tipperary and the Rebels’ hosting of Waterford on June 9th.

"A significant amount of remedial work has taken place on the pitch surface since February and there have been significant improvements achieved as a result," Kennedy is quoted saying by RTÉ Sport.

"In the longer term, major work is still going to have to take place, starting in the summer after the Munster championships in order to ensure we have a fully winter-proof surface to take the stadium into the future. 

"But for now we are very satisfied that the condition of the pitch on Sunday will match the quality of the two hurling games we look forward to seeing here. 

"It will also be fit to host to the remainder of the Munster Championship games here and also the Rod Stewart concert in May."
