Murtagh ready for massive tests

Roscommon's Diarmuid Murtagh and Patrick Burns of Armagh

Roscommon forward Diarmuid Murtagh admits that they have to hit the ground running in the Super 8s.

The Rossies head for Croke Park this weekend where they will take on Tyrone on Saturday afternoon in their opening Super 8s clash.

A hard earned win over further Ulster opposition Armagh last weekend booked Roscommon's place in the newly formed quarterfinals.

Murtagh admitted to the Ulster Herald that they are delighted to be there, but added that there is no time to dwell on reaching the Super 8s as they must focus on the task in hand straight away.

"It is a game we are really looking forward to because in the Super 8s you're going to be tested against the very best and on more than one occasion," said Murtagh.

"The game against Tyrone is a big one for us. It is a game we are excited to play in and the important thing is that we learn from last weekend's game and then we must learn from the Tyrone game no matter what the outcome is."
