Sligo manager Paul Taylor believes that there are plenty of positives to take from their defeat to Roscommon.

The sides met in the FBD Connacht League last Sunday with the Rossies coming out on top by four points.

For Taylor, it was a competitive game needed head of the start of the NFL 4 campaign and a trip to Ruislip to face London.

Despite, the news that last year’s captain Niall Murphy had left the squad, Taylor is in a positive frame of mind going forward.

“These games are all prep for the National Football League and that’s what we built the game up to be – good preparation for the NFL – and I thought it was,” Taylor told the Sligo Champion.

“It’s great to have a team like Roscommon, the best in Connacht for probably the last three or four years, Connacht champions two of the last three years and a Super 8s team for a good number of years coming to Sligo and with 15 minutes to go we were right there.”

He added: “Every team that plays on the 26th of January will want to win that first game. It’s very important to get a win in your first game, it sets you up and gives you a bit of momentum so that’s what we’ll be looking towards but I’m sure London will as well.”
