Ex-Rossie Collins designed Marty's 'dazzling' clothes for new show

Marty And Bernard's Big Adventure airs on RTÉ 1 at 9.30pm on Sunday.

Footballer-turned-fashion designer Neil Patrick Collins is responsible for Marty Morrissey's flamboyant look in the new TV series 'Marty and Bernard's Big Adventure'.

In the promo for the programme, which will have its first airing on RTE One tomorrow at 9.30pm, Marty and his RTE colleague Bernard O'Shea are seen in New York wearing outfits that wouldn't look out of place in the movie 'Zoolander'.

"I don't think they realised how far I would push the edginess of the clothes," former Roscommon footballer Collins wrote in the Irish Daily Mirror.

"We quickly decided that I would create an outfit for the guys to wear during the show so they could dazzle the Manhattan Avenues. I selected some classic woollen suiting fabric complimented with some colourful trimmings to jazz it up a little.

"What happened during the film, which you will see this weekend, was just perfectly serendipitous and is testament to the character and energy of New York City.

"Random people walking the streets approached the two guys and were hungry for camera time, including a young New Yorker who challenged Bernard to a rap battle on the Corner of 8th Avenue and 37th Street."
