Rhode Community Fun Day
We are delighted to announce we are holding a Community family fun day on the Bank Holiday Monday August 5th in Fr.Dowling Park  2pm to 6pm.

Offaly Senior Football Championship

 

Rhode Senior footballers were defeated by Edenderry in the first round of the Offaly Senior football championship group stages  in Fr,Dowling Park Rhode on a score-line of 0-13 to 0-11.  This is Rhodes first loss in the group stages since 2001.  Rhode will take on Shamrocks in RD2  in Mucklagh on Sunday  August 4th at  5pm.

Championship Match Preparation and Stewarding 

 

A massive thank you to members of the committee and fellow volunteers who helped out  on match day and preparation during the week before the match last Saturday. Great work was carried out by the grounds men aswell as our Club Chairman and vice Chairman showed the way leading the great work done by both men and women on the morning of match and day of it, with no stone left unturned. all should be very proud of their hard work in the way our grounds and facilities were prepared on the day.  

 

 

Junior A football Championship 

 

Rhode Junior A footballers defeated  Ballinagar on a score-line of 12-0-09 in their final group game on Sunday 

Rhode will now take on Clonmore in the Quarter final  on Saturday August 3rd  in Daingean at  6pm.

Junior B Football Championship 

 

Rhode Junior B footballers had a  3-10 to 0-07 win over Ballycommon on Friday night last in Rhode. Rhode will qualify for the quarter finals 

 

 

Rhode U13 Footballers

 

On Wednesday last, Rhode welcomed Kilcormac Killoughey to Fr. Dowling Park in their first round of the Offaly U13s Championship. With a large crowd in attendance, they were treated to an excellent game of football with both teams attacking at every opportunity. Even with the slippy conditions scores were well taken from every angle which saw the teams go in at half time on a scoreline of 1-5 to 2-1 in Rhodes favour. Rhode took full advantage of the wind in the second half and attacked the opponents goals at every chance and finished with the stronger tempo. The final score read 4-11 to 3-1 to Rhode. Rhode would like to thank the Kilcormac Killoughey players and managers Joe and Mick for a tough game.They will now face St. Manchans in Doon on Friday 26th July at 7.30pm in the second round.

U15 Footballers  

 

Rhode U15 footballers were beaten by Ferbane/Belmont on Monday night last in Ferbane last Monday evening.

Offaly GAA Cul Camps 

 

A great week was had by over 160 boys & girls at this years Offaly GAA Cul camps in Fr.Dowling Park. The weather conditions were not bad  Monday to Friday helped create a wonderful mood among participants  as they had a jam packed week full of fun where they gave an excellent display of their footballing skills throughout the week.

On the final day the Club gave all the  kids in attendance   some Juice and crisps while also receiving a  Little Champions lunch kindly supplied  by Brian Darby.  

 

A massive Thank you to the fabulous coaches who as always do a fantastic job throughout the week

Lotto 

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto Draw that took place on the 15th of July for a Jackpot of €4,000. The numbers drawn were 1 19 20 28. The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Doyle’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation. The following matched three numbers and received €100.

Sympathy 

 

Deepest Sympathy is extended to the Cole & Dunne Families on the Sudden Passing of Bernadette Cole St,Patrick's Avenue:    

Bernadette is the Mother of Former Rhode Senior footballers and current Junior footballer Niall & Mark Cole. 

Bernie's funeral mass took place on Wednesday afternoon last in St.Peters church Rhode followed by burial to the adjoining cemetery. 

 

Sympathy is also extended to the   McNally  Family formerly of Clonin on the passing of Former Rhode footballer Michael McNally whose funeral took [place last weekend. 

 

May Bernie & Michael Rest In Peace.
