Aughnamullen club notes

May 23, 2018

Seniors: Our Senior team played Donaghamoyne in the League last Friday night losing by 1 point on a score line of 3-12 to 2-14. This was a game where they could have won but Donaghmoyne's ability to score crucial goals at various times proved the difference in the end. In the first half Aughnamullen started well and led by 1-04 to 0-03 courtesy of a Colin Clerkin goal and points by Edmond Mc Ardle(2), Michael Bannigan(2) after 13 minutes but Donaghmoyne upped the ante scoring 1-05 without reply to lead by 4 going into half time but further points by Bannigan & Mc Ardle and Kevin Sheridan score left it 1-09 to 1-07 in favour of the Fontenoys at half time. Aughnamullen reduced the lead to 1 with a fine Kieran Duffy point but were dealt a blow when Donaghmoyne scored a goal to increase it to 4 however another from Duffy & one from Christopher Keenan left 2 in it. Shortly afterwards a long ball into the Aughnamullen square was seized on by the Donaghmoyne full forward and he stroked it into the net to leave it 3-12 to 1-11 with 10 left. In the final 10 minutes Aughnamullen put the pressure on to leave Donaghmoyne scoreless and scored 1-03 themselves with the goal from Mark Mc Ardle and points by Damien Duffy, Mark Mc Ardle & Darren Geoghegan to leave 1 in it but unfortunately time beat them on this occasion.  Next game is on this Sunday at home to Killanny at 3pm all support welcome.
