HL Div 1: Second half surge seals points for Trim

April 22, 2024

Trim's Kyle Ennis

Trim 1-17 Kilmessan 0-13

Match Report Kevin Coleman

Trim resumed winning ways in the first round of the League at a sunny St Loman’s Park.

Kilmessan proved a lively opposition with an interchanging scoreline, and nothing between them, particularly during the first half. The home side were first out of the blocks with an early converted free from Kyle Ennis. Kilmessan’s response was immediate and they racked up three points on the bounce, two of which came from the accurate free taking of Luke Horan. Thereafter, both sides traded scores although Trim were more wasteful and registered nine wides before the half time break.

Half Time: Trim 0-9; Kilmessan 0-9

Luke Horan had an early converted free to edge Kilmessan in front but that was to be nearest the visitors got to what would have been a surprise home defeat. Trim accounted for the next five scores and when Josh Harris found the back of the Kilmessan net, on the fifteenth minute, this game was virtually over as a contest. Trim added another four points, to Kilmessan’s three, in the final quarter to run out fairly comfortable winners.

A feature of this win was the number of home players, nine in all, who got themselves on the scoresheet.
