Na Fianna 0-14

Boardsmill 0-11

Na Fianna produced an excellent performance on Friday night in Skryne to progress to a first ever JBFC final.

Boardsmill started the better, opening the scoring with a well taken point.

Na Fianna matched them with Jack McNally, Dean Henrick and Ollie Lewis kicking good efforts. Na Fianna began to get the upper hand & soon opened up a 0-5 to 0-3 lead. Na Fianna kept the scoreboard going with further points from Henrick and McNally as they led 0-9 to 0-5 at half time.

Playing against the breeze in the second half, Na Fianna had to work hard for their scores. Dean Henrick, Kean Flynn and Mark Slevin hit points as a dominant Ollie Lewis ensured Na Fianna won plentiful ball around midfield.

Boardsmill fought back and came to within two points after they kicked a good ‘45. Brian Queeney restored Na Fianna’s three point lead with a point while substitute Harry Silke made an impact, kicking a good point. Boardsmill bombarded the Na Fianna goal at the end but stout defending saw the Na Fianna men hold on to claim a final berth.

Best for Na Fianna were Ollie Lewis who gave a man of the match display around the middle of the field, Dean Henrick, Jack McNally, Sean Coffey and Stephen Slevin were very impressive in the full back line as were the industrious pair of Kean Flynn and Ronan Byrne in the half forward line. Goalkeeper Sean Coyle once again made a couple of outstanding saves in the second half to keep Boardsmill at bay.
