The home side began well and with Trevor O’Brien and Brian Duffy leading the scoring, they went on to lead by 0-8 to 0-5 at the break.

The Fechins worked hard to get back into the game in the second half but Glyde did enough to hold out for an important win. Ciaran Sheridan, Dion Conlon and Barry Sharkey were also on target for the winners.

O’Connells made it six wins from seven played in this division when they had a narrow 2-13 to 0-17 victory over Hunterstown in Páirc Mhuire Ardee on Saturday evening.

Rovers started well with the first two points of the game from Brendan Lennon and Paul Carrie but O’Connells hi tback and a goal from Cian Doyle saw them take the lead. It remained tight until the break but a late point from Glen Matthews had Rovers ahead by 0-10 to 1-6.

The O’Connells were given a huge boost at the start of the second half when Sean Cairns grabbed a second goal. The teams continued to trade points for the remainder of the game and a draw was on the cards when Matthews levelled. However, the Bellingham side finished strongly and hit two late points through Robert Quigley and Stuart Osbourne.

Young Irelands found their winning form once again to move within two points of the top as they defeated Kilkerley Emmets by 2-13 to 2-10 at home on Saturday evening. The visitors got off to a great start with an early Shane Lennon goal only for Dermot Mone to find the net at the other end as the Young Irelands went ahead with points from Peter McStravick and Jordan O’Donoghue.

However, Kilkerley hit back and thanks to a Ewan McEnteggart goal and points from Conor Quigley, Ciaran Bellew and Ciaran McGlynn, they led by 2-6 to 1-t at the break.

Young Irelands had the better of the second half and a goal from Derek Maguire put them ahead before they sealed win with three points from Cian O’Donoghue.

Brendan Duff struck an injury-time point to secure a share of the spoils for St Mochtas at home to Dundalk Gaels on Friday night, as the game finished 0-11 apiece.

The visitors kicked the opening two points of the game only for the Mochtas to respond with four unanswered scores. However, the Gaels dominated the remainder of the half and scores from Barry Watters, Derek Crilly, Eanna McArdle and Jason Clarke saw them lead by 0-8 to 0-7 at the break.

The Mochtas levelled at the start of the second period but scores from Clarke, Eanna McArdle and Watters looked to have won it for the Gaels. However, the Mochtas pulled back two late points before Duff landed the equaliser.

St Kevins picked up an important win in their fight to avoid the drop as a late Patrick Clarke goal gave them a 1-12 to 0-12 win over St Josephs in Philipstown.

The visitors made the brighter start to the game and scores from Alan Quigley, Conal Smyth and Derek Mulligan had them three points to the good after ten minutes.

However, the Kevins hit back through TJ Doheny, Cian Callan and James Kieran to lead by 0-8 to 0-6 at half time.

The teams traded points for much of the second half but the match was decided on 53 minutes when Cian Callan’s free dropped short into the Joes goalmouth and it was Patrick Clarke who crashed the ball to the roof of the Joes net.

Nh Fionnbarra recorded a 2-12 to 2-9 win over Oliver Plunketts in the ACL Division 2 Round 7 on Saturday evening at Mell.

Plunketts made the better start and scored 1-3 before the Togher men registered a score.  The Drogheda men were two points up at the break with the Barrs goal coming from Padraic Murphy, leaving his side trailing by 1-6 to 1-4.

The Plunketts scored a goal through Rory Taaffe to get a good start to the second half but the Finbarrs though dug in and replied with major of their own from Bryan Sharkey.
