Sheelan Cup: First game of the season first win. We travelled to Dundalk last Saturday night to play the Clans and won by six points. The team played really well and should have won by a lot more than six points but their keeper pulled off a couple of great saves. Great to see many of the lads back for the first game of the season with a few more still to come. We play the Oliver Plunketts next Sunday morning in Drogheda at 11am.

Subs Emmet Byrne for J. McLoughlin, Conor McGill for C. O’Brien, David Hoey for J. Clerkin, Cian Doyle 0-1 for P. McKeever.

New: O’Connells GFC would like to welcome two new players to the club, Gary Connolly from St. Mochtas and Sean Meehan from Four Masters in Donegal. We wish both men every success with the club both on and off the field.
Blood: There will be a blood donation clinic in Scoil Uί Mhuirί Dunleer on Thursday 28thFebruary from 5pm to 8.30pm. A partnership between the IBTS and the GAA to encourage GAA members and supporters to give blood at local GAA level.
New Games: Friday Night Lights is a new concept and is open to boys born in 2005 and 2006 in a small sided game environment (9-a-side). Games are 12 minute long and are played without any coaches or parental input. Players are mixed up on arrival and assigned to a team randomly. Referees will coordinate pitches and organise fixtures.
Players are asked to sign up prior to the night each week (via the online form attached below) and show up 15 mins before the allocated throw in time to be assigned to their teams. The playing environment will follow a 'Let them play' theme - no pressure, no instructions and with a let them work it out for themselves approach. This will allow the players to make decisions and organise their teams in a way they see fit. The venue is Darver and the dates are the 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd of March from 7 to 8pm.
