Geraldines club notes

February 18, 2019

Saturday night saw the Geraldines Senior Mens Team start their 2019 journey with a convincing win against local rivals St Brides.  Geraldines 1.10 / St Brides 0.8.  Eamonn Dunne’s Army will continue next Saturday with a home match against Dundalk Young Irelands.

Our u10 boys enjoyed week 3 of Louth GAA Blitz’s in DkIT on Saturday morning; attendance was excellent yet again with The Gers fielding 3 teams.  Games were competitive and the boys gave great performances.

Our Saturday Juvenile Winter Development programme has now come to end.  Thank you to all coaches who gave their time to help make this programme a huge success; now the season is slowly starting up we can clearly see this was hugely beneficial to the children.  Thank you to the dedicated group who designed, organised and ran this programme.  Well done to the children who attended.

U12 boys start their next round of training at DKIT on Tuesday 19th, 7-8pm.  U13/14 boys will train Thursdays from 6.45 – 8 pm.

Congratulations to the Louth Ladies Minors who beat Wicklow in the first round of the Leinster Minor Competition. Congrats to Mentor John Carr and Gers girls Kellie, Holly, Sarah, Emma, Rebecca and Ava.  Louth 15 girls defeated Monaghan in Clones; well done to Ailish Todd, Katie McGeogh, Maebh Fee and Karina Corcoran for their incredible performances.

The U16 boys started off their League campaign with a hard fought win over a Dreadnots/St. Kevins amalgamation. Playing with the advantage of a very strong breeze in the first hard they led by 6 points at halftime. However it was a determined and resolute second half performance that got them over the line. Well done boys.

Our Registration Night was hugely successful and we were delighted to see many existing and new faces join the Geraldines.  We have a 2nd night for those who didn’t register first time round – Wednesday 20th February, 730-9pm in the Geraldines Hall. Many of our coaches and volunteers will be available to talk to parents on the evening.  Boys and girls of all abilities are very welcome.

It’s the final week of Walking with the Gers and Ireland Lights Up. This has been hugely successful within our Parish. Let’s make this Thursday the best attendance to date!!! Registration 645pm, walk 7-8pm under the flood lights in a safe and secure environment.  Join us for tea/coffee in Club Kitchen after.  “Walking: the most ancient exercise and still the best modern exercise.”

With the kind support of Frank Lynch & Company, , our Schools Development Programme is going well and continues after the midterm break.
