Tommy McCormack signalled his intention to step down as Aughawillan manager after yesterday's Connacht club SFC semi-final defeat to Ballintubber.

The Killoe Emmet Og clubman led the Willies to Leitrim SFC titles in 2016 and '18, but has decided to step down along with his son and team trainer, Joe McCormack.

"I think it is time for myself and Joe to just leave it at this moment and time," he told the Leitrim Observer.

"I think I should take a backward step and leave it to younger men to take over. There is a great bunch of young lads there, there are 31 of them togged out today and it augurs well for Aughawillan’s future.”
