Westmeath ladies turn to Finnegan and Carr

January 07, 2019

Tommy Carr

Sean Finnegan is the new Westmeath ladies football manager.

The Mullingar man, who was in charge of logistics and adminstration during Kevin McStay's tenure as manager of the Roscommon senior men's team, will have former Dublin captain and manager Tommy Carr working alongside him as strength and conditioning coach.

Finnegan replaces Stephen Maxwell who stepped down after two years in charge last August. The Dubliner led the Lake County to a National League Division 2 title in 2017. They retained their Division 1 status last spring thanks to a crucial victory over Kerry, but lost the Leinster final to All-Ireland champions Dublin before suffering heavy defeats to Galway and Cork in the All-Ireland series.
