Kildare 2-14

Wicklow 2-7

Daniel Flynn marked his first Kildare start in 18 months with 1-2 as the Lilywhites outscored Wicklow by 1-14 to 0-1 in the second half to win in Aughrim.

It was Kildare's first win under new manager Jack O'Connor who had tasted defeat in his game in charge against Longford last weekend. Former minor star Jack Robinson eclipsed Flynn with 0-6 as the visitors recovered from a poor start to make it a disappointing afternoon for Kildare's 2018 All-Ireland U20FC winning manager Davy Byrne, who is now in charge of the Garden County.

Goalkeeper Mark Jackson was among the scorers as Wicklow roared into a 0-6 to 0-0 lead before Chris Byrne finally opened Kildare's account with a 23rd minute goal. But the hosts replied with two goals in as many minutes from Darren Hayden to take a 2-6 to 1-3 lead into the break.

However, it was one-way traffic in the second half as Flynn's major shortly after the restart changed the course of the game. Points from Johnny Byrne and Robinson soon had the Lilywhites in front and they had seven to spare in the end.
