Extra-time was required to separate Kildare and Offaly in today’s Leinster MHC quarter-final at Newbridge and it’s the Lilywhites who advance.

The hosts prevailed on a scoreline of 1-23 to 1-20 and it’s the latest in a growing list of results that casts the current state of Faithful County hurling in a bad light.

Normal time finished with the sides deadlocked (Kildare 1-15, Offaly 0-18) after David Qualter’s injury time goal got the team in white back on level terms.

Kildare made the most of their late reprieve to eke out a memorable victory and they will now take their place alongside Kilkenny, Dublin and Wexford in the last four.
