Kildare manager Cian O’Neill has confirmed that two players have dropped off the squad following the end of the league campaign.

The Lilywhites had a mixed FL2 campaign which saw them finish mid-table, but the news that last year’s All-Ireland winning U20 captain Aaron Masterson and James Murray have left squad.

The Moorefield duo lined out for their club in a local derby league win over Sarsfields last weekend, but they will not feature for the Lilywhites this year.

Masterson had an outstanding 2018 captain as he guided the Lilywhites to U20 glory, won a county title and was named the Kildare senior footballer of the year.

Murray has been the mainstay of the Moorefield side for a few years now, but has struggled to make the breakthrough to inter-county level.

As of yet, there have been no more changes to the Kildare squad, but O’Neill has always stated that it is open-ended.
