Kildare manager Cian O’Neill was wholesome in his praise for his players following their win over Cork at the weekend.

On a Páirc UíChaoimh pitch that looked as if Sergio Garcia had a frustrating practice round on, Kildare had to dig deep to grind out a win against a defensive Cork set-up.

And O’Neill stressed to the Leinster Leader that every one of the 20 players used played their part in the victory.

“The effort they gave was so, so powerful, from each and every one and the five subs that came all played a huge part,” said O’Neill.

“I’m so proud of them, and there were another five or six players that did not get on and I’m disappointed for them, but their time will come.

“I know it was not pretty at times but we just had to get players back when we lost possession in order to ensure we held on to our lead but despite that our fans will be happy going home with two points.”
