Kerry are set to be without inspirational attacker Stephen O'Brien for next month’s All-Ireland SFC final against Dublin.

The Kenmare man netted the Kingdom’s winning goal in this afternoon’s 1-18 to 0-18 victory over Tyrone at Croke Park, but a black card picked up towards the end of the semi-final means he’s in line to miss the showdown with the Dubs on September 1st.

O’Brien dragged down Peter Harte in the dying moments at headquarters and now faces a now faces a proposed cumulative suspension after being black-carded on top of a caution in the league against Galway back in February and before picking up a straight black card in Navan against Meath last weekend.

Similar to Harte's situation last month, Kerry can appeal any of the three black cards picked up by O'Brien and if one is succesful all three will be struck off. 

Speaking to RTE Sport after the final whistle in Croker, O'Brien himself said the county will be looking to appeal.

"Yeah, I knew that going in," he said. "I think the black card in the Meath game was very harsh. I was running off the ball and it was an accidental head clash so we’ll be certainly looking to appeal that one."
