James Weldon, who was part of Eamonn Fitzmaurice's backroom team in Kerry last season, has been appointed coach to the Irish senior women's basketball team.

It's a case of the Fossa man going back to his roots as he's previously coached at international and superleague level in basketball, and has been awarded several coaching accreditations throughout Europe.

Weldon was brought on board by former Kingdom boss Fitzmaurice this year in an attempt to enhance better movement, footwork and swift ball transfer.
