The match report I read said he came on as a sub for 90 seconds at the end of the game.

I played my first hurling game last year at the age of 28, enjoyed it very much, even though the team I played for ended up getting hockied. The experience did give me pause as to why this should be the case, and I concluded that it was simply down to tradition. Even though my club back in Ireland had hurling teams, it was really thought of as an after-thought, with most of the players also being footballers. Any promising footballers would always be preserved strictly for football. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 28/03/2017 20:20:19 1972511 Link 0 |
The discussion on this topic, Kilkenny football; seems to have wandered a bit. Maybe it should be renamed Cavan hurling? Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2474 - 28/03/2017 20:58:44 1972530 Link 0 |
I thought at the time that he started but was taken off after a few minutes.

if KK minor footballers had been beaten by Westmeath by as much as KK hurlers beat Westmeath we would have a lots of anti KK footbal on here, not a word though, mooncat (Kilkenny) - Posts: 533 - 10/04/2017 13:08:32 1977924 Link 1 |
I think your missing the point Westmeath don't go out of their way to be poor at hurling , on the other hand ???

Of course they want to play hurling having spent time there and attended matches in St Kieran's College I get it , its institutionalised they are born into a culture no argument , I posted as the pop at Westmeath lads is a bit unfair they are trying to be a dual county from what I can see and maybe a discussion for another day that's not the wisest move

i wasnt having a pop at Westmeath,I know they promote hurling,I was just thinking if a kk football team were on the end of such a scoreline we would be hearing lots about it today.

Ha! I haven't been on hogan stand in months, I log in and what do you know, a thread about Kilkenny football on page one of the forum! It seems the national obsession with how people in Kilkenny choose to spend their leisure time continues unabated. ballydalane (Kilkenny) - Posts: 1246 - 11/04/2017 20:40:28 1978577 Link 1 |
The question is either the lack of investment in football or more likely why Kilkenny are dog useless at it. It isn't the hardest of sport in the gaa world surely if a team of fit Kilkenny lads took to the field they could be competitive enough?

Let's hope they stick to the football. Don't want them the scrutinising some of the other 'activities' we get up to in our leisure time down by the Nore. :-)

Fit Kilkenny lads do "take to field" and are very competitive at it. They play in that "dog useless" completion otherwise known as the All-Britain Inter County Football Championship. This includes other "dog useless" teams like London, Warwickshire, Lancashire, Scotland and more. They actually won the Dog Useless Cup the year before last.
