But the petition isn't coming from the station. It's coming from the viewers of the show, the majority of whom speak English mainly and have a grasp of Irish."
Oh dear...may as well petition get rid of the Irish language content as well so...in English of course"
Personally, I find watching sport on TG4 a great way to reclaim the cúpla focail of yore. Regarding Seó Spoirt, there's no other programme previewing GAA fixtures at this time of the year. Surely even you can see that as a positive?

I am surprised too given the amount of Guinness Rugby matches on TG4 that Mr BB is against the Irish language."
Don't worry Bloodyban's views are not shared by many Limericks people.

they aint shared by me either

galwayford if gaa is so weak in limerick - how come we get better support than galway e.g 2014 nhl quarter final , 2013 and 2014 minor hurling semis 2015 under 21 hurling semi (the week before galway won allireland semi so hurlign would have been on a high)

if gaa is so weak how come we have recently all ireland club and 21s and got to minor finals in 2014 and 2016 -"
well done for those achievements. I have a certain "grá" for Limerick GAA as you operate in difficult situation. But I mean Galway hurlers have reached 6 finals in the last 30 years, Limerick 2 or 3. Also Galway footballers have won 2 senior titles. Limerick are no where.
Anyway I am hoping to see some big crowds at Pearser from now on!

The language of the station or show is irrelevant to the language the petition is in.

The people who started the petition like the show. That's all, it doesn't matter what language it is in.

If an English language station was showing something like 'The Killing' and cancelled it, would you dismiss a petition set up to reinstate it if that petition wasn't in Danish?

I would send in the petition in the language of the station. Not difficult

I love this show. I am not fluent in irish but enjoy it al lthe same.
Dara keeps the analysis running smoothly and every pundit gives their opinion in a fair and honest way without any personal attacks or looking for publicity like the Sunday Game analysis has turned into.
personally I will miss it.

Ah I see. So if Seó Spóirt were on RTÉ for example, and RTÉ do sometimes show Irish language programming, it would be fine to have the petition in English even though it's been sent by the same people?

I think the easiest thing to do is send the petition in the language that the person who is setting up the petition is most confident with. Especially considering that those receiving said petition also understand that language.

The language of the petition makes no difference to it.

It was/is a good show regardless of the language in which it is/was broadcast.

Call for Ideas

GAA-related programming to complement our Live GAA coverage across the Championships.

Budget: Up to €350,000 maximum

RTÉ Sport is the sole free to air broadcast partner of the GAA for the All-Ireland football and hurling Championships 2017-2021, and is looking for innovative and engaging programming ideas to complement our live coverage.

Types of programmes which played in this genre over the years include Breaking Ball, Park Live, Road to Croker, The Committee Room, Championship Matters and Thank GAA it's Friday.

We have a variety of slots available which can accommodate a number of different options:
. A mid-week or weekend series during the Championships or
. A behind-the-scenes mini-series during the Championships or
. GAA related documentaries which could play in November/December.

We will pay particular attention to proposals which
. are truly innovative;
. make creative use of new or existing presenting talent;
. demonstrate a full understanding of the unique nature of the national games and their place in the hearts of an Irish audience;
. come with clear and deliverable 360-degree digital/social plans as part of the proposal.

In brief, consider what you would enjoy as a GAA fan, match it up with the allocated budget and send it into us.

The successful proposal will broadcast in 2017, and there may be an option of it being re-commissioned for 2018 & 2019.

We ask, in the first instance, that producers submit ideas into the eCommissioning system:
https://e-commissioning.rte.ie/SWIFT.Web/skins/rte/login.aspx
under the programme category: Sport "GAA 2017"

Closing date for submissions is 12 noon on 27th of March 2017. (STRICT DEADLINE)

Tá 2332 théis an achainigh a shiniú.

Mór an trua an chlár seo a chuir ar cheall I ndáirire, tugann sé dearcadh neamhsplách I gconaí, agus ní féidir é seo a rá faoin gclár eile ar RTÉ!

Rumour has it that Sky Sports or "Sport Spéir" as they are re branding themselves after their massive GAA success have bought the rights. They are confident they will get as much viewers for this as they did for their GAA coverage last year....and they may be right !

First off will be an interview with Sillian O'Connor from defending Conot and All Éire champions Mayo
Then they will be having an in depth review of Dublin to see how they are shaping up for the defense of their All England title....

Sport Spéir....suil eile....
