Replying To rorysboys:  "Yea just wondering when I seen c team beside then. Only problem is all the big clubs will follow suit next year which will probably diminish the chances of the smaller clubs. I would presume the top junior teams will relish the opportunity of playing these games."
The only other Senior reserve team that would be capable of entering at the minute is Gweedore. The standard of other teams is so poor they wouldnt do well in it.

The 'smaller' clubs as you put it can well hold their own. A strong Eunans team didn't make it past the QFs last year. I can't see either them or Glenties going much further this year. Glenties and Na Rossa should be a tasty game on Sunday, Local derby with a few Dr McGuire winners with Glenties lining of for Na Rossa.

Was there a problem with a couple if the Junior fixtures? Did Naomh Ultan V Naomh Colmcille or Convoy and Robert Emmets take place? As usual the Donegal GAA website is a fountain of knowledge.

From my looking at my own predictions, I was happy enough, but it's safe to say that I know nothing about Junior Football. I hope it remains that way ;-)

Replying To BeardedBorderGael:  "Yeah it's true, R.Emmetts dropped out of the Junior A Championship. The Junior A & B draws had already taken place, resulting in the fixtures in their Junior A group needing to being altered. Tricky situation for the county board, if they didn't agree to it then the club would likely not field and the board don't want a club not participating in championship football."
County Board should have held their nerve and told them to play in the championship they initially entered.

I remember playing against Emmets in the past. Always got the impression they fancied themselves as hard men. Voluntarily relegating themselves to a lower championship is anything but.

So that's the reason you have a dislike to Robert emmets. A bit petty now. If small clubs like emmets are getting hammered every week as emmets were, a lot of players won't commit understandably so there quite entitled to go to a lower grade if it means the club can survive..

It is unbelievable that Castlefinn a town with a great GAA heritage have fallen so far in the the last number of years.

So calling them out on taking the easy way out means that I dislike them? No, not the way it works.

They had enough for two teams in the league this year. And now suddenly they feel they have to drop down to a reserve championship.

Do you think that is fair on the other reserve teams? If Emmetts senior team were to hammer one of them would the reserve players not question their commitment???

As a direct comparison, Newtown only beat Emmetts senior team by a couple of points in the last league, got hammered in every other game, couldn't field a reserve team and still have enough pride in themselves not to voluntarily relegate themselves to a reserve championship.

This is not the first time you questioned emmets playing junior b. So obviously you don't have much time for them.. the way I look at it teams like emmets are trying to keep their clubs alive and they're quite entitled to enter the b competition. Lifford tried it a few years and still didn't win it.

And you chose to ignore my question in relation how reserves teams might be affected by this.

Fair play to Newtown stepping up and playing in their alloted championship despite getting a hammering last week

You obviously have an interest in the junior b championship. Robert emmets have got a lot of hammerings this year so it's pretty obvious that they are a junior b team. Good luck to you this year anyway.. it's always better to concentrate on your own team and let other teams worry about themselves.

No I have an interest in the standard of football rising in the county. Clubs first teams voluntarily opting to relegate themselves isn't going to achieve that and is quite frankly a cowards way out.

My own club get hammered in the senior championship most years but still have a bit of pride in themselves to try and compete even if we are out of our depth in more games than not.

They went to Muff this past weekend and hammered the home team by 12 points. It has the look of dropping down to try to win a handy championship.

Listen you can look at it both ways. You can say there in it to win a championship or there in it to keep the club in existence. What I'm saying is if they entered junior A there's a good possibility that they wudnt be able to field a team. Nobody likes getting hammered in games.

They could field two teams for the league. That's a minimum of 30 players. How could they not keep even 17/18 of these for the league.

They had 24 togged against Muff. Clearly not struggling for numbers.

The previous poster was spot on - in it for a hollow championship.
