New York, New York....

(Oldest Posts First)

Congrats to NY on winning their first All Ireland at the weekend. And apparently the team was made up entirely of American born lads. This has to be good for the game in the US and England.

Tomsmith here
Hopefully it will put an end to the money bags buying in a team each summer .
E went over in 1947 and played an All Ireland in New York ( beating red hot favourites County Kerry) and what did it do for GAA in N Y .???
Most Clubs in Ireland loose good players to these money bags who dont care if teh team at home get relegated or not

Yes it was entirely American born. I think thats the rule that applies to NY for this particular competition for

Some of the selectors are good Kerry men Mick. Kevin Moriarty has done great work over in Rockland.

It is indeed true. I have the programme as the game preceded Derry and Kerry. When I checked to see the junior lineouts it was Kilkenny and London. A massive day for New York and team not named on programme. Now it's my belief the programmes are printed on a Thursday and the junior semi s were Friday but still it's not right.

That's terrible the way CP didn't have our name on the program. But nonetheless, we're on the march, on the rise. Junior this year. It is only a matter of time before we take over at senior as well. The more professional the game goes the more it'll suit the American teams. We do things professionally over here. The next generation won't have just the Leitrims worrying about NY, but you'll have the Meaths and Kerry's decrying our power and crying for us to be split in two or even into four as they did for Dublin when they strung a few AI titles together.

No fear of that Forever. Kerry never wanted Dublin split in two and actually Kerry backed Dubs also to play both neutral and home games in croke park. Sure we supply the Dubs with plenty of Kerry blood and gave done throughout my lifetime. Sure a Kerryman even captained Dublin to win an all ireland before my time. Dublin 2 best midfielders ever are the sons of Kerry. The two Brian's. Now we even help New York out too and always did. John Kerry Ó Donnell etc
