Something To Do Over The Christmas Break...

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

So, I just thought, as things slow down for the festive period; I would put out a pretty obvious question for some discussion over the festive period. There has been some interesting managerial changes over the past couple of months and I personally think that next year will be very interesting.

Ulster Champs: (Toughest to get right) I'm going to be bias and say Armagh... oh God... but it has to be a realistic goal for us with a few new classy lads in. (more than likely Tyrone or Donegal - we live in hope-what it's all about!!)

Connacht: Mayo

Munster: Kerry

Leinster: Dublin (obviously)

AI Champs: Kerry

Cork are a rising power; Mayo always there; Tyrone I think always have huge talent (big county in north) but underestimate at peril!! For me, Kerry the greatest challengers. Dubs sheer class under Gavin. Without doing a Brolly on it: what a blueprint for how to play our national game - just unbelievable. Had the privilege to be at the drawn final this year - Dublin never panicked - were prepared for the scenario and did the business. Brilliant!!

Dubs should still be the favourites until we see what impact Gavins departure has, they still have the best players and the best panel imo.

The order of the other contenders is debatable. You'd have to put Kerry #2 at the moment but any of Donegal, Galway, Tyrone, Mayo and maybe even Cork could take them out on a given day. I really liked how that Galway team was shaping up but they had a lot of injuries in 2019, new manager now so I'll be interested to see how they progress.

Yes but probably accurate. Dublin won the replay well this year and it's wildly speculative to assume that a change of manager would harm Dublin. In fact, Dublin are likely to be better with a new manager - certainly in the first year - "new manager bounce". Remember also, Tyrone will probably be without Mattie Donnelly in 2020. I just can't see any of the challengers winning it unless Dublin mess up in a game. If I reckoned Dublin were going to be beaten when it counts next year, I'd say that. But I don't see that a sensible prediction, tbh.

Give it a rest, good man. Some aren't happy til every thread is drawn into page after page of Dublin vs Kerry pettiness. It's extremely boring. You've pretty much thrown this one on the same course with the 3rd post of the thread. Leave it at that.
On the topic:

Connacht: I'll have to go for Galway, but to be honest any of Mayo, Roscommon and ourselves can beat the other on a given day.
Leinster: The Dubs all day, but it'll be interesting to see what Jack O'Connor does with Kildare. Meath will he looking to push on from last year too.
Munster: Kerry comfortably enough. Cork definitely have potential and are very exciting, but they have a long way to go to yet.
Ulster: Hard to call like Connacht, but I'll go for Donegal. They could just as easily be out early though, given the quarter final draw against Tyrone.

All-Ireland: Dublin. They're still the team to beat and have most of the core of their team in their prime. The best team I've seen in my lifetime, without a doubt. I think they'll do the 6.

Highly agree

Dubs should be favourites and it's richly welcomed.

Not a bother to them lads

Why is Mattie going to be missing?

Do you ever have anything POSITIVE to post as everything you post is usually utter nonsense.

Dont know is the honest answer.

Kerry will do the usual canter through Munster.

Dublin might do the same in Leinster, but Dublin will be an unknown quantity next year at the start of a new cycle.

Ulster pick any one of 3/4 counties who could take each other out.

Galway, Mayo, Roscommon as per in Connacht.

All Ireland?

With the abdication of Jim Gavins Dublin, i think the standard needed to be reached to win an All Ireland will drop from the standard set by Jims Dublin. I would be surprised if Dublin won next year and i dont think they will.

I think Joyce will do a job with the talent on offer in Galway but like Dublin i think its a lot to ask or expect a manager to win an All Ireland in year 1.

I think it will be then between Kerry, Doengal, Tyrone and Mayo fighting out for it next year. Bonner, Horan, Keane, Hart all well into their cycles of development and any of them who dont win it will start feeling the heat, with the year that in it with the Dubs in a bit of transition.

If not the Dubs and i dont think it will be, personally id love to see Mayo win it and id actually quite fancy them if we were taken out, they had horrible luck last year with injuries at key times.

Dublin will of course be favorites with bookies but I think it's unlikely.
Leinster = Dublin
Munster = Kerry
Connacht = Mayo just
Ulster = Tyrone just

Likely it'll be Kerry next year.

Galway have to beat New York and Sligo to reach the Connacht final next year. In other words, peak for 1 game and they are Connacht champions. With a new manager with a positive approach, they have to be warm favourites to beat a Mayo well past their sell by date or a Roscommon that are generally inconsistent.

Ulster Donegal
Leinster dublin
Munster Cork
Connacht Galway

I think Donegal have on big push in them and Murphy is massive if they can stay injury free they should take it.

Can't see past the dubs in Leinster unfortunately.

We are playing Cork in PUC in the 21st of May we won't be up to championship pace that early on and Cork won't want to lose 3 in a row to us at home it'l be close but I'd fancy the rebellion to begin.

Galway have serious talent and now a positive coach to tap into it.

dublin will win the allireland the new manager excuse won't wash plenty of managers have won allirelands in their first year Micko and Jack O'Connor being 2 that I can think of off the top of my head.

Are we favorites? I'd say the bookies might disagree with you.
