Was St. Oliver Plunkett a "patriot"? He was persecuted for the British for his faith, but I don't recall ever hearing much about any patriotic acts of his.

Re Saint Oliver Plunkett. That poses another question. Which saint has the most clubs named after him or her.

There is a GAA club in Carlow called Michael Davitts. Don't know if any others around the country.
Also saw this article from 2015 in the Independent that you might find interesting.

Must be that or St. Patricks. There's a St. Patricks in Meath, Kilkenny, Limerick, Wicklow, Carlow, Wexford, Sligo, Louth, Kerry, Tipperary, Armagh, Fermanagh and Tyrone, and two in Dublin.

As for Patriots I'm thinking Padraig Pearse if you include all the "Pearses" and "Na Piarsaigh", plus you also have Pearse park and Pearse Stadium!

Which Patriot Has The Most Clubs Named After Him.

And how about the patriots who have only one club named after them?

I propose John Lockes, Kilkenny.

Plenty of opportunity for controversy with that one. The most obscure must be Redmond O'Hanlon though in Armagh, or maybe Bishop MacHale in Dunmore.

Longford Slashers take their name from Myles "The Slasher" O'Reilly who fought in the Irish Confederate Wars. There used to be a Cavan Slashers club but they merged with Cavan Harps to form Cavan Gaels in the 50s. Don't think there are any other clubs with the Slashers moniker.
