The GAA care more about this junket than the club games anyway.

I think you should have said the GPA because it is actually a GPA inspired junket.

I've enjoyed watching it the past couple of years, disappointed it hasn't been televised this year.

Dead on, Poolsturgeon. This is a meaningless shambles and to describe it as a hurling classic is an insult to the game. There must be money in it for someone as otherwise it wouldn't be happening. It's a nice little break for the players which I don't begrudge them for, but it's far removed from the reality of what the GAA is supposed to represent.

It's a chance for rich supporters of these counties to go to New York and get some Christmas shopping as well .

As a spectacle it is a show, a holy one and about as exciting. Great they not showing it this year on TV. Leave them at it.

I assume its just a nice holiday for the players and a day out for some USA GAA fans I dont think it really matters if the folks back home care about it or not. The format is crap but I dont see any reason to be getting worked up about it

No body cares about it in Ireland. In the U.S. you have people mouthing about a game that is only a watered down format of the real game and should not be played as, to show case the sport. Recognize the McDonagh players by playing a meaningful game between the top two for promotion to the McCarthy.

Think TG4 got it right this weekend. Instead of showing us a hybrid game in the states between the top counites in hurling we got to see 2 club teams from second tier hurling counties in Carlow and Loais play as good a game of club hurling Ive seen. Now thats promotion!

? I'm pretty sure they do already have a meaningful game between the top two for promotion to the McCarthy it's called the McDonagh cup final and it's very meaningful because it gets you promoted to McCarthy cup.

Or are you advocating moving the McDonagh cup final to NY in November?

I spend way too much time telling people how good carlow hurlers are.

It was a great game with James Doyle and Marty Kavanagh giving an exhibition of hurling.

Tough luck on Rathdowney-Errill as well, seriously good team.

Nobody doubts the quality of hurling in Carlow at this stage. The quantity is an issue for you if you are to maintain top tier status.

I actually didn't even know it was on, and yes bar it been a nice well deserved break for the players involved, it's a joke of a game. Have to laugh at the report on the homepage on Hoganstand of the game between Kilkenny and Tipperary, where it actually stated that Kilkenny gained some revenge for their All Ireland defeat by hammering Tipperary. Seriously how does winning a pointless meaningless game constitute any kind of revenge?

If I was living in Boston/New York I'd be really looking for to this competition. Nice idea. The players seem to really enjoy it.

Absolute load of nonsense - GAA should be ashamed of themselves... How come the likes of Laois, Westmeath, Offaly and Kerry don't get a chance to take part?
