All the best to Frank in his retirement. A fantastic career in the green and gold. Frank was a prototype modern player in that he was adept at playing in a variety of positions. I'll never forget his point in the All Ireland semi final against Cork in 2012. He made a charging run up the pitch, shrugged off the attentions of Aidan Walsh and then casually nailed a point off his weaker left foot. Brilliant player.

I am sad to see him go still think he had another couple of years in him, but we were lucky to have saw him play. I like the classy announcement he made especially around the club side of things, just reflects the man he is.

Sad to see Frank go but I will have nothing but good memories of a classy player who always seemed to make the right choice.

Not a demonstrative man, never saw him fist pump, roar or shout, but that was part of his class.

Not to mention the perma tan!!!!

Massive engine, quick, brave (for a small man) and seriously skillful. Showed his absolute class when treated terribly by Rory Gallagher in Sligo the night Galway beat Donegal. Gallagher headed back over the Donegal border with his P45 and Frank McGlynn played for two more years. A Rolls Royce of a footballer.

Frank was a Rolls Royce of a footballer whose composure on the ball was matched in terms of sheer class by his movement both on and off the ball. He always seemed to be where he needed to be. His intelligence around positioning and linking pitch-length moves were second to none. Nominated for footballer of the year in 2012 and understandably so. What a player. Frank you are remembered fondly for everything you did. Legend!

Frank was a fantastic asset to Donegal football both on and off the pitch. Went about his work with little fuss and was as reliable as they come. Class act away from the pitch too and a great role model for young players coming up. No doubt he'll be helping out in some capacity with coaching in the future and with his role as a teacher.

Echo all the above and thanks to the posters from other counties who acknowledged one of our best. Reminds me of our great Barry McGowan from the 1990s - another player criminally underrated. Except for Brolly who rates him so as the best he ever faced. Frank's intelligence and skill were key attributes and interestingly he played in the same youth team as Wayne Rooney at Everton - although you'd never hear Frank say that. Thanks for everything you did for Donegal Frank and all the best for the years ahead.

frank deserves all the plaudits he gets in the next week or so even though he'll not want any of it.. he was one of those players that got on with the job, was totally committed and totally honest. he was also one of them ost intelligent footballers around and the sight of him taking on the ball and charging down the wing put the fear into every team bar none. good luck in the retirement frank. you'll be missed by all football people around the country
