Did RTE send poor Marty specifically to London to interview Bernard on the news? Jaysus Marty has some gig in fairness

Re previous message, Marty wasn't actually in London. Didn't actually see interview. Sorry Marty ;)

A brilliant player for Dublin, delighted he made the All Ireland match day squad. Best wishes to Bernard in his retirement.

God I remember when he first started playing for Dublin, I though he was average only on the team because of big brother Alan. but he absolutely eclipsed Alan in the end would have him on any team in any generation

Nothing left to be said.

He's a legend of the game

Outstanding servant of football and this will continue off the pitch in the years ahead.

Thank you for the many happy memories BB and you've undoubtedly much to look forward to off the pitch.

Up the Brogans!

as good a forward as Ive ever seen, some of the points he scored down the years, and in big games too, were unreal.

Strange that he had to be told to work hard and back though by Gilroy

Pat Gilroy had to tell him to stop over-celebrating when scoring and thrashing leinster minnows

Nice meeting you here !! I would not like to see a Kerryman being judged on a statement such as "not turning pro as the rest of the Dubs " referring to Bernard Brogan. Dublin team professions 2 Company executives 2 physios 4 Bank Officials ,1 doctor, 2 Tax Consultants 3 Teachers 4 University Students 2 with own businesses profiles very akin to Kerry counterparts I seem to remember both Darren O Sullivan and Kieran Donaghy giving up day jobs a few years ago so as to concentrate òn football , professional? Bernard senior 3 Bonn uile Eireann Bernard Junior 7 Both fantastic footballers in different eras both were a credit to the game

It's players like BB who are the inspiration to all young and up and coming players and I'd imaging his contribution to new faces in that dressing room were incalculable. Would have loved for him to get some game time in the finals but that's how cold sport can be.At least he got to be involved with the historical victory and bow out in a high which is all you can hope for I suppose in sport too. I doubt we've seen the last of BB and wish him well in his retirement. Great, great player and we were fortunate to have him.

Completely different type player to Alan. He was more accurate than Alan, a more natural scorer but Alan had more pace and was great running on to the ball. Alan's best days were probably before Dublin became the all conquering force of this decade where as Bernard was lucky in that his peak coincided with the rise of this great Dublin team. Because of this Alan tends to be unfairly underrated when compared to Bernard.
Kerry people are stretching it a bit putting their football ability down to a Kerry mother considering their father was a Dublin great.
